Samsung Heavy Industry Moves Ahead with LNG Platform for Mozambique

Samsung Heavy Industry is moving ahead in South Korea with the construction of a floating platform (FLNG) for the Area 4 joint-venture, led by Eni and which include´s China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Company, a subsidiary of CNPC. In spite of the current restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, delivery is still scheduled for 2022.

China´s Oil Imports from Angola Continue Recovery

Angola was China's fifth top crude oil supplier in April, customs data showed, with imports rising 23.8% from the same month a year earlier. In the first four months of 2020, Chinese imports from Angola are still negative, despite the recovery.

Macao casino magnate Stanley Ho dies at 98 in Hong Kong hospital

Macao gaming magnate Stanley Ho Hung Sun passed away in Hong Kong at the age of 98 today, his family announced outside Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. Macao’s “king of gambling” had retired after an accident at his home in Hong Kong in 2009.

Portugal Should be “pragmatic” in Face of Possible US-China Escalation, top Portuguese Diplomat Warns

Former Portuguese Foreign Minister, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz warns that the current trade war between the US and China could be just the first stage of a more severe dispute, that evolves into a technological war, a political one and, at the last stage, a military dispute like the one during the height of the Cold War. Portugal, he warns, should have a "pragmatic approach" to the escalation.

Further Tensions in Brazil-China Relations in Wake of Covid-19

Brazil-China relations have been put to a further strain with the release by the Brazilian Supreme Court of a recording of a Government meeting where Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, says the Chinese Government should pay for a Marshall Plan to all countries that have been hit by Covid-19. China´s embassy in Brazil has avoided escalation.

Project Supported by China to Bring Digital Satellite TV to 20,000 families in Mozambique

The Government of Mozambique announced the conclusion of a project to bring digital satellite television signal to 1,000 villages in the in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, which is estimated to benefit over 20,000 families.  Covering all the ten provinces and the capital city of Mozambique, the project was co-funded by China and implemented by the Chinese electronics and media company StarTimes.
