Angolan President “rejuvenates” Government in the middle of economic crisis

Angolan president João Lourenço has decided to make changes in the Government and the Presidency, naming new ministers for Foreign Affairs and Defense. Some of the appointments are generating controversy, especially that of an MPLA leader accused for participating in a Thai-led scheme to embezzle state funds.

According to a study from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTP), almost all African countries should have more than 1,000 cases by 1 May. Angola, Mozambique and Cabo Verde are among those where the number of infections is expected to peak later.
