Brazilian Industry Calls for Measures to Compensate Import of Subsidized Chinese Products

 

A study by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) shows that Brazil imported USD5 billion in subsidized Chinese products in 2019, 14.1% of Brazilian imports from China last year. The body is calling for more “compensatory measures” do protect the Brazilian industry, such as import tariffs based on the percentage of the subsidy granted in other countries.

Samsung Heavy Industry is moving ahead in South Korea with the construction of a floating platform (FLNG) for the Area 4 joint-venture, led by Eni and which include´s China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Company, a subsidiary of CNPC. Angola was China's fifth top crude oil supplier in April, customs data showed, with imports rising 23.8% from the same month a year earlier. In the first four months of 2020, Chinese imports from Angola are still negative, despite the recovery.
