Yang Wanming to step down as China´s ambassador to Brazil

 

Diplomat Yang Wanming is stepping down as Chinese ambassador to Brazil, after three years in office during which bilateral relations `matured and consolidated´.

On social media, the ambassador said that relations between Brazil and China are of fruitful cooperation in various fields. “Cooperation between the two emerging powers provides solid support for national development and assumes increasing global relevance,” he said.

Yang added that the Asian country is willing to join forces to carry out the Global Strategic Partnership.

Bolsonaro seeks detente with China

According to Yang, China considers and develops its relations with Brazil from a strategic and long-term perspective.

Wanming called the period he spent in the country “a valuable experience in a diplomatic career, an opportunity for which I feel deeply honored and proud”.

Faced with occasional criticism of China by Brazilian members of Government and Parliament, Wanming responded in public , namely to the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, and federal MP Eduardo Bolsonaro (União Brasil-SP).
