University of Lisbon to open faculty at the University of Shanghai

 

The University of Lisbon will open a new faculty in China in the next academic year, in collaboration with the University of Shanghai.

The project for the creation of the faculty at the University of Shanghai was approved in early May by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, University of Lisbon said in a statement.

Degrees and masters in the field of engineering will start as early as September, “with international recruitment of students”it added.

Sino-Portuguese master’s program in civil engineering launched in Portugal

According to the University of Lisbon, the new faculty will have, during a first phase, 900 students.

For the first academic year, three degrees and three masters are already planned, in civil engineering, electrical engineering and environmental engineering.

The courses will be taught in English, with Portuguese as a second language, and students are expected to attend part of the study cycle in Lisbon.

The collaboration between the universities of Lisbon and Shanghai is also reflected in the faculty, made up of a third of professors from Lisbon, a third of professors from Shanghai and the rest recruited internationally.

The university stresses that this is “an important step in the international affirmation” of the institution.
