According to the company, “99% of intercontinental traffic passes through submarine cables, with only 1% of the traffic carried by satellite systems”. The value of the global submarine cable market is expected to reach USD 22 billion in 2025, “more than double that of 2019”, hoping to reach “USD 30 billion in 2027”.

Equinix says it was selected by EllaLink “because of the company’s experience in providing next-generation subsea infrastructure, as well as thanks to its dense ecosystem” of networks, ‘clouds’, financial service providers and information technology providers.

In addition to communications, this international communications cable that will connect Portugal to Brazil has the capacity for seismic detection.
