Forum Macau With New “Lusophone” Leadership

Timorese diplomat Danilo Lemos Henriques will take over as assistant secretary general of the Macau Forum, representing the Portuguese-speaking countries.

Former delegate of Timor-Leste to the Forum, Henriques (pictured above) is set to begin his new role on 01.MAR, replacing in the post Paulo Espírito Santo, appointed by the previous government of São Tomé and Príncipe, CL Brief has confirmed.

The Forum´s secretary general is Ji Xiazheng, who has also as Deputies Xie Ying, nominated by China, and Casimiro Pinto, indicated by Macau.

With widely recognized competence, Henriques has previously served at the Timorese embassy in Beijing and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dili. He graduated in Australia and is fluent in English and Portuguese.

The Forum was largely paralyzed during the pandemic period and until the reopening of the PR China a year ago.

Henriques´ nomination was first reported by TDM in Macau.
