New Government of Portugal Strengthening Sino-Portuguese Youth Ties With Macao Association

Portuguese Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Equality, Carla Mouro, welcomed in Lisbon the president of the Macao Sino-Portuguese Youth Culture and Sports Exchange Association (MSYCSEA), Carmen Wu, who presented plans for new initiatives to promote bilateral ties.

Among the initiatives presented to Mouro (pictured above, left) by MSYCSEA president Wu (pictured above, right), are those to be undertaken this year under the auspices of the 25th anniversary of the transfer of powers from Portuguese administration of Macau to China (20 December 1999).

This partnership aims to promote youth exchange and development in order to bring the bonds of future Portuguese, Chinese and Macao generations closer together.

For the second half of the year, the associations intend to organize initiatives in Macau and in Lisbon to celebrate this 25th anniversary.

European policy has encouraged its Member States, like Portugal, to create associations with intercultural valences with international reach.

Youth organizations linked to the Portuguese Communities foster the creation of intercontinental bridges between youth from Portugal and Asia.
