Former Minister Named Guinea-Bissau Ambassador to China

 

António Serifo Embaló, a senior member of the PRS party, the third political force in the Guinean parliament, will be Guinea-Bissau´s new ambassador to Beijing. A former minister, he is currently a member of parliament.

 

The appointment of Embaló, 57, was announced on Wednesday by President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

 

Originally from Pitche, in eastern Guinea-Bissau, Embaló has a degree in Tourism Economics in the former Soviet Union.

 

Serifo Embaló will replace as ambassador Malam Sambu, also a PRS leader, who has held the post for the past 10 years, until he joined the current government as Minister of Fisheries.

 

Sambú recently said he wants to sign a fisheries agreement between Guinea-Bissau and China.
